Pull out the potholders and the Lemon Fresh Pledge: Running With Scissors is taking you where dustbunnies fear to tread, into the spic-and-span heart of suburban America! We’re traveling to the community of Stepford, Louisiana — a place where the loafers are light, the cosmos are crisp, and wives are always on the watch for waxy yellow buildup. Join us as we pull back the curtain on THE REALLY DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES OF STEPFORD PARISH!

Our story begins with Joanna Morgenstern, a feisty wife and fledgling artist, who moves from her plush home in New Orleans to the quiet, comfortable Northshore village of Stepford. But almost as soon as she pulls into her new cul-de-sac, things go from quaint to quirky. Joanna’s husband — acclaimed florist Walter Morgenstern — joins the local Men’s Association and spends most nights at the clubhouse with his new pals. And as pretty as her new home may be, Joanna doesn’t know what to make of her new ladyfriends, whose deeply domestic habits don’t jibe with Joanna’s good-time gal ways.

After a bumpy start, Joanna eventually encounters a couple of kindred spirits: tomboy Bobby Marco and superstar TV bombshell Tina Louise. At last, Joanna thinks she’s going to make it after all! But then, like a ’73 Pinto, her hopes go up in flames. Bobby and Tina become just like all the other Stepford wives, and Joanna feels sure she’s next! What’s turning all her friends into homebound hausfraus? Who’s going to those disco parties at the Men’s Association? Why does the water taste like axle grease? And most importantly: will Joanna escape from Stepford to the warm comfort of Bush?

THE REALLY DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES OF STEPFORD PARISH stars Kyle Daigrepont, Bob Edes Jr., Brian Peterson, Dorian Rush, and Michael Sullivan, with technical assistance from Liz Zibilich. The original script was created by the company, inspired by Ira Levin’s classic camp novel, The Stepford Wives, a couple of movies by the same name, and a shameful love of reality shows.

THE REALLY DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES OF STEPFORD PARISH plays Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 6pm from June 4 – 27, 2010. All shows are held at Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans. Tickets are $26 for Friday and Saturday, and $21 for Sunday.
Writers and performers from New Orleans and New York team up to explain
HOW I LEARNED ABOUT SEX
March 26 and 27, 2010 at 8pm • Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Avenue

The Mystic Krewe of Satyricon invites you to hear an ensemble of New Orleans authors and performers as they team up with New York writer Blaise Allysen Kearsley for a hilarious, outrageous, touching evening of literature and music called HOW I LEARNED ABOUT SEX. From childhood stories of curiosity to adult tales of lovemaking gone very, very awry, audiences will reel through eight tales told from eight very different perspectives — male, female, straight, gay, young, and…less young. It’s blue enough to please the prurient, but silly enough for the straightlaced, too. Featured among the group: Running With Scissors stars Dorian Rush and Jack Long!

HOW I LEARNED ABOUT SEX runs Friday and Saturday, March 26 and 27, 2010 at 8pm at Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans.

Life on the North Pole ain’t what it used to be: Rudolph’s long gone, Kris Kringle’s in jail, and as if that weren’t enough, now someone’s offing the holiday’s brightest stars!
Enter Rudolph’s plucky daughter, Clarice, a fledgling FBI agent with a double-major in criminology and cranberry sauce. Will Santa help her find the naughty, naughty man? Or will Clarice herself become jerky for this turkey? Where will the merry madness end? It’s a whodunit of holly-jolly proportions!

ONE NIGHT ONLY!
Tuesday, October 20 at 8pm
One Eyed Jacks, 615 Toulouse Street
Limited seating• All tickets $20

Order yours now, or call 504 606 9903 for reservations!

Running With Scissors’ cast of cut-ups return to their juvenile and delinquent roots for a very special staged reading of John Waters’ cult classic FEMALE TROUBLE. Seating is limited for this event—the company’s annual fundraiser—so make your reservations early!

The trouble in FEMALE TROUBLE begins on a peaceful Christmas morning in Baltimore, Maryland, when rebellious teen Dawn Davenport doesn’t get the cha-cha heels she’d asked for. (Because nice girls don’t wear cha-cha heels!) This seemingly minor incident sends Dawn into a tizzy, and sets her and her friends Chicklette and Concetta on a lifelong path of crime. You’ll watch in wonder as Dawn becomes a single mother and raises the worst (and ugliest) 14-year-old girl in the world! You’ll luxuriate with Dawn as she becomes a high-fashion supermodel under the tutelage of snooty salon owners Donald and Donna Dasher. You’ll be riveted as Dawn goes toe-to-toe with her neighborhood nemesis, Aunt Ida. And you’ll surely shed a tear when Dawn’s antics finally send her up the river and into the electric chair. (Or maybe you’ll cheer. Who’s to say?) Don’t miss Brad Caldwell, Wesley Callaway, Leon Contavesprie, Marcy Hesseling, Dave Hotstream, Jack Long, Elizabeth Pearce, Dorian Rush, and Brian Peterson as Dawn Davenport in this hilarious, unforgettable, one-night-only extravaganza!

Running With Scissors’ reading of FEMALE TROUBLE takes place Tuesday, October 20 at 8:00pm at One Eyed Jacks, 615 Toulouse Street, in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased now by clicking here or by calling 504 606 9903.

The action heats up this summer as Running With Scissors stumbles back to Le Chat Noir, bringing to life everyone’s favorite guilty pleasure: Jacqueline Susann’s VALLEY OF THE DOLLS! In 2005, the company performed the show as a one-night-only staged reading, and fans have been clamoring for us to do a full production ever since. Which only goes to prove: clamor and y’all shall receive!

One part homage, one part parody, Running With Scissors’ adaptation of Susann’s camp classic follows three very different young women as they enter the tantalizing, treacherous world of show-biz: Anne Welles (Brian Peterson), a WASPy good girl in search of true love; Jennifer North (Dorian Rush), a knockout model with seriously bad luck; and Neely O’Hara (Lisa Picone), a crass cutie who’d crawl over her own mother for a starring role—or a stiff drink. A cavalcade of characters stands between these three and their glittery dreams—nosy secretaries, invalid lounge singers, and of course, Helen Lawson (Bob Edes Jr.), a particularly blousy Broadway babe who’s been around the block. The production also stars Brad Caldwell, Jack Long, and Dwayne Sepcich. Costumes are by Kate Jensen and Brian Peterson; sets by Brad Caldwell; props by Liz Zibilich. The script was adapted by the company from Susann’s novel, the subsequent movie, and other fabulous sources.

VALLEY OF THE DOLLS runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 6pm, from June 12 through July 5, 2009. All performances are at Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Avenue. Tickets are $26 (Fri & Sat) and $21 (Sun) and include a $5 bar credit.
Haul out the holly, the ham hocks, and the hairspray, y’all: Running With Scissors is moseying back to the Everlasting Arms Motor Park for another helping of holiday hijinks in Grenadine McGunkle’s Double-Wide Christmas! Thanks to 2008’s persnickety holiday calendar, there are only six shows this season, and Grenadine will be on hiatus in 2009, so catch us while you can!

As the curtain opens, we find trailer park maven Grenadine McGunkle (Dorian Rush) putting the finishing touches on one of her famed Christmas Eve interfaith tailgate potluck extravaganzas—but of course, things never work out quite as Grenadine plans. Will she have time to finish her makeup before company arrives? Will Crystal and China ever achieve fame and fortune amid the backstabbing of Branson, Missouri? Who’s the father of Crystal’s baby? And who’s been sending everyone mystery gifts? Find out as Running With Scissors makes a mad dash for merriment this holiday season at One Eyed Jacks!

Grenadine McGunkle’s Double-Wide Christmas features new songs and several new characters, including:

Dorian Rush as Grenadine McGunkle, unofficial president of the Everlasting Arms Motor Park

Bob Edes, Jr. as Mailman Johnny Shoemake, who occasionally delivers the mail

Brad Caldwell as Punkin, a confirmed bachelor

Brian Peterson as Gladys Finkelstein, everyone’s favorite Jewish neighbor

Dwayne Sepcich as Daniel Finkelstein, a reality TV show producer and Gladys’ beloved son

Running With Scissors returns to the stage with the New Orleans premiere of the killer camp comedy DIE! MOMMY! DIE! Written by Charles Busch—author of the hugely successful Psycho Beach Party—DIE! MOMMY! DIE! is a pitch-perfect parody of over-the-top horror flicks of the 1960s. It’s like Whatever Happened to Baby Jane meets Straightjacket meets The Big Cube!

DIE! MOMMY! DIE! tells the story of Angela Arden (Brian Peterson), a fading songbird and eternal glamourpuss married to has-been movie producer Sol Sussman (Bob Edes, Jr.). Between her loveless relationship, her spiteful daughter, Edith (Dorian Rush), her precocious, addled son, Lance (Dwayne Sepcich), and her bitter, bible-quoting housekeeper, Bootsie (Jack Long), Angela is at her wit’s end. But just in the nick of time, Angela finds love—or lust!—in the arms of hunky tennis pro Tony Parker (Leon Contavesprie). Will they achieve their dream of starting new lives together? Or will Edith and Lance send Angela on a different kind of trip? And is no one immune to the seductive effects of Tony and his “big rumor”? Join us at Le Chat Noir to find out!

DIE! MOMMY! DIE! was written by Charles Busch, with a set by Brad Caldwell, costumes by Kate Jensen, wigs by Brian Peterson, and props by Liz Zibilich.

Tickets: $26 Friday & Saturday • $21 Sunday

Theatre misfits Running With Scissors return to Le Chat Noir with A Place in the Sun, an outrageous parody of the 1951 Oscar-winning film about teenage romance, class struggle, and water sports starring Elizabeth Taylor, Shelly Winters, Montgomery Clift, and Raymond Burr.

Our tale centers on George Eastman (Jack Long), who’s weary of living with his pious parents and moves out West to work in his uncle’s swimwear factory. Before his first day on the job, he falls for wealthy society gal Angela Vickers (Brian Peterson), but, fearing she’s out of his league, he settles for gawky girl-next-door Alice Tripp (Dorian Rush). Complications ensue—including a careless roll in the hay with Alice and subsequent 1950s-style “trouble”. Will George honor his obligation to Alice? Or will he follow his lust all the way to Angela’s doorstep? And what on earth is all that waterskiing about? Tune in this summer and find out!

ONE NIGHT ONLY!
WEDNESDAY, MAY 21 at 8PM
ONE EYED JACKS, 615 TOULOUSE STREET
LIMITED SEATING • ALL TICKETS $25
CLICK HERE TO ORDER TICKETS NOW
OR CALL 504 606 9903

Running With Scissors’ cast of cut-ups return to their juvenile and delinquent roots for a one-night-only staged reading of the cult classic Reform School Girls. Seating is limited for this special event—the company’s annual fundraiser—so make your reservations early!

Reform School Girls belongs to the long tradition of bad-girl films like Teenage Gang Debs, Teenage Crime Wave, and the infamous High School Confidential. Reform School Girls tells the story of Jenny Williams, a good girl with bad taste in men who lands at Pridemore Juvenile Facilities. It’s a rough and tumble world inside those cinderblock walls, filled with potential friends and even more potential enemies—notably leather-clad Charlie, lecherous Nurse Edna, and domineering ultravixen, Warden Sutter (played by punk rocker Wendy O. Williams, Warhol girl Pat Ast, and cult queen Sybil Danning, respectively, in the film). Will Jenny survive on The Inside? And how many will perish under Edna’s evil reign? Join Brad Caldwell, Bob Edes, Jr., Donald Lewis, Jack Long, Sean Patterson, Brian Peterson, Lisa Picone, Dorian Rush, Cammie West, and Liz Zibilich to find out!

Also that night: Running With Scissors will host an awesome raffle, with fabulous prizes! Proceeds will benefit company member Lisa Picone (who’s having a fundraiser of her own soon).
Join Running With Scissors as they stumble back a few decades to the ivy-covered halls of the Eastland School, home to Blair, Tootie, Jo, Natalie, and their spunky supervisor, Mrs. Garrett. It’s late in the spring semester, and the girls have just one thing on their minds: hot dates for the senior prom! But it’s when part-time housekeeper/full-time proselytizer Margaret White moves into the attic with her telekinetic daughter, Carrie, that things really start to heat up!

Will Blair be, like, totally banned from the prom? Will Natalie confess her true feelings to Jo? Will Tootie ever take off those damn rollerskates? And, um, what’s the deal with Cousin Jerri? Tune in this October and find out!

This September, Running With Scissors’ cast of cut-ups steps back in time to take on one of Hollywood’s grandest melodramas—and grandest dames—with L’imitation of Life! This comic homage to Douglas Sirk’s torrid, tawdry, touching, totally Technicolor version of Imitation of Life—which starred Lana Turner, Sandra Dee, Juanita Moore, John Gavin, and Susan Kohner—runs from September 8 through October 7 at Le Chat Noir.

L’imitation of Life follows the highs and lows of all-star sweater-girl Lana Turner (Ricky Graham), as she seeks to re-launch her sagging career with a really important film about prejudice, parenthood, and prêt-a-porter. Tagging along for the ride are Lana’s perky, perfectly blonde daughter, Suzie (Dorian Rush); Lana’s African American confidante/maid, Annie (Donald Lewis); Annie’s nearly white daughter, Sara Jane (Brian Peterson); and screwy shutterbug, Steve (Jack Long). Brad Caldwell, Rod Lemaire, and Liz Zibilich round out the cast.

Like the film it parodies, the play veers from comedy to tragedy and back again, as Lana’s career goes up and up and up, while the rest of the cast hurtles down, down, down in a shame-spiral of epic proportions. L’imitation of Life was adapted by Ricky Graham and Running With Scissors, based on an original script by Bruce McNally.

L’imitation of Life runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm from September 8 – October 7, 2006. All performances take place at Le Chat Noir, located at 715 St. Charles Avenue, in the heart of New Orleans’ arts district. Tickets are $25, which includes a $5 bar credit. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling 504 581 5812. (NOTE: The September 8 performance of L’imitation of Life will be hosted by the Mystic Krewe of Satyricon. For tickets to that performance, please call Mickey Gil at 504 525 4498.)

This summer, join Running With Scissors as they take on America’s favorite teen sleuths in NANCY DREW & THE HARDY BOYS IN “THE WAX MUSEUM MYSTERY”! There’ll be plenty of gags, gadets, and galloping exposition to keep theatergoers giggling, whether they’re newcomers to the children’s novels or longtime fans.

NANCY DREW & THE HARDY BOYS IN “THE WAX MUSEUM MYSTERY” is an original work that follows world-famous Nancy Drew (Elizabeth Pearce), Frank and Joe Hardy (Rod Lemaire and Flynn De Marco), and their respective sidekicks, Chet and Bess (Brian Peterson), on a globetrotting voyage to London, Morocco, and beyond. The comic misadventures begin when our young heroes obtain a mysterious trunk full of curious old costumes. After finding a calling card among the clothes, they decide to return their booty to the rightful owner—a spooky old scatterbrain (Jim Jeske) who runs a wax museum in London with his creepy henchman, Og (Jack Long). Will our young sleuths survive a night in Professor Jared’s waxworks? Will they recover the Countess de Lave’s (Dorian Rush) precious family jewels? Will Bess escape her bumbling kidnappers before she’s sold into slavery? Will Chet ever stop eating? Tune in this summer for answers to these and other pressing questions!

Spoiled society girl Melanie Daniels may have survived The Birds, but can she conquer The Gulls?! Forty-two years after Hitchcock’s horrific tale of nature run amok, Running With Scissors asks, “Could it happen here?” in Ryan Landry’s hilarious high-camp, low-tech parody, The Gulls, running March 25 – April 17 at One Eyed Jacks, 615 Toulouse Street.

The heroine of our story is Melanie Daniels (Flynn De Marco), an uppity Uptowner who gets her kicks pulverizing poultry, until a run-in with the mysterious Mitch Brenner (Nathan Martin) makes her all a-flutter. Hot on Mitch’s trail, plucky Melanie ventures to the far-off French Quarter, under the guise of bringing a birthday present to Mitch’s 11-year-old sister, Kathy (Dorian Rush). Half-heartedly helped in her amorous pursuits by Mitch’s bitter former fling, schoolteacher Annie Hayward (Brian Peterson), Melanie soon discovers she’s no match for Mitch’s malicious mother, Lydia (Jim Jeske), or for the preposterous, presumptuous, chicken-choking chief of police, Oscar Meyer (Jack Long). As two oversized gulls-gone-wild (Rod Lemaire and Pandora) lead a flock of fine feathered fiends in attacks on the Quarter, Melanie’s world unravels, proving that the fowl don’t always play fair.

The Gulls runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, March 25 through April 16, 2005. All performances are at One Eyed Jacks, located at 615 Toulouse Street in the French Quarter.
You loved the movie, now see the play that started it all! The devil wears pigtails in Bad Seed, a horrific, hilarious tale about the most terrifying enfant terrible ever to grace stage or screen. Can anyone put a stop to Rhoda’s sinister scheming before it’s too late? Perhaps her clueless, smarmy, generally absent father, Kenneth (Jack Long)? The nosy landlady from downstairs (Dorian Rush)? Rhoda’s persnickety, spinstery schoolteacher (Elizabeth Pearce)? The mentally handicapped handyman (Jim Jeske)? Or—least likely of all, but you never know—the neighborhood’s harried, hooched-up harridan, Mrs. Daigle (Bianca del Rio)? Tune in this October to find out—and please, don’t give away the startling surprise ending!

WEDNESDAY, JULY 21 AT 8:00PM!

CHECK OUT OUR GREAT REVIEW IN THE TIMES-PICAYUNE!

This July, Running With Scissors returns to the land of NASCAR, Airstreams, and Pabst Blue Ribbon! Join New Orleans’ favorite theatre misfits at Le Chat Noir as they present Del Shores’ chicken-fried farce, Sordid Lives!

Things start to go wrong for the Ingrams when family matriarch Peggy turns up dead in a seedy motel room, inadvertently killed by her adulterous lover’s wooden legs. For Peggy’s daughters, ethical questions spring up faster than crabgrass in a cow pasture, including whether to bury their mama in an expensive mink stole and whether they ought to have their Tammy Wynette-impersonating brother released from the state loony bin to attend the services. Things build to a fever-pitch, culminating in the gosh-darned funniest funeral you’re likely to attend this year!

Sordid Lives was written by Del Shores (author of Daddy’s Dyin’, Who’s Got the Will?) and stars Debbie Davis, Rob Thomas, Flynn De Marco, Maureen Brennan, Elizabeth Pearce, Brian Peterson, Rusty Tennant, Bill Dykes, Jim Jeske, Dorian Rush, and—making his first appearance with the company—the legendary Ricky Graham.

Sordid Lives runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 6:00pm from July 9 – August 1, 2004. Performances are at Le Chat Noir, located at 715 St. Charles Avenue, in the heart of downtown New Orleans, right on the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line. Tickets to Sordid Lives are $17 and can be reserved by calling 504 581 5812. [NOTE: the July 9th opening performance is hosted by the Mystic Krewe of Satyricon; for tickets, please call Mickey Gil at 504 525 4498.]

The zany group of theatre misfits known as Running With Scissors present Grenadine McGunkle’s Hee-Haw Hoedown, a galafundrasiereventspectacular to celebrate their upcoming season—especially their July production of Sordid Lives at Le Chat Noir.
Set as the highlight of the Hogwalla County Gun Show and Tent Revival, this one-night-only event features many characters from the company’s beloved trailer-park holiday extravaganza, Grenadine McGunkle’s Double-Wide Christmas, including Grenadine herself (Dorian Rush), her delinquent son, Tater (Flynn De Marco), the ever-pregnant Loretta (Bianca Del Rio), single pageant mom Sally Ann (Debbie Davis), pageant-girl wannabe Sierra-Brittney (Jason Toups), and everyone’s favorite neighbor, Gladys Finklestein (Brian Peterson). They’re joined by a bevy of Bubbas and Betty Sues from the Everlasting Arms Motor Park, played by Marcy Hesseling, Jim Jeske, Rusty Tennant, and Rene Zeringue. In addition to the hootin’ and hollerin’, there’ll be a rip-roarin’ raffle, a sassy silent auction, and a couple of surprises!

Mendacity, mayhem, and mirth collide on the rooftop of a Southern mansion in Running With Scissors’ hilarious spoof of Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof! Our story centers on former child star Brick Pollop, whose quasi-popular children’s show has been cancelled after 20 years on the air due to the untimely death of his co-star, Skipper. As a result, Brick retreats to his personal fortress of solitude: a cardboard fort he’s built atop his ancestral home. Now, the family’s matriarch, Colonel Sandra, is sick and dying, and everyone’s in a tizzy about the estate: Brick’s wife, Maggie; Brick’s half-brother Hap; Hap’s chronically pregnant wife, Queenie; and the Colonel’s loud but lovable lesbian lover, Aunt Sukey. When will Colonel Sandra kick the 10-piece bucket? Will Brick snap out of it in time to claim his birthright? And just how many children does Queenie intend to have, anyway? All bets are off in this catfight to the finish!

Pussy on the House was written by Ryan Landry and represents an exciting collaboration between Running With Scissors and Landry’s Gold Dust Orphans, a theatre company based in Boston and Provincetown, Massachusetts. The play stars longtime Running With Scissors players Flynn De Marco (Brick), Jim Jeske (Hap), Elizabeth Pearce (Sukey), Brian Peterson (Maggie), Dorian Rush (Queenie), and–making his debut with the company–Rusty Tennant as Colonel Sandra.

Pussy on the House runs from March 19 through April 10 at Club 735, located at 735 Bourbon Street, in the heart of the French Quarter.
It’s 1972. Dick Nixon’s having conversations he’ll live to regret. The finishing touches are being put on An American Family (which will eventually lead to such boob-tube wonders as Elimidate and The Anna Nicole Show). And in midtown New York, director Cecil Hudson is cobbling together a ragtag group of New York thespians for a one-night-only performance of Tennessee Williams’ latest work to benefit Creative, Responsible Artists Against Alcoholism and Pleurosis (CRAAAP).

Unfortunately, Cecil gets more than he bargained for–much more! For starters, his cast is rife with personality conflicts grand enough to make the US Senate look like Up With People. Then, on the Big Night, actors turn up missing during the performance–and worse! Who is to blame for the backstage bump-offs? And will any of these divas still be standing come curtain call? You’ll shriek with fright and delight at I Suddenly Know What You Did Last Summer!, whipped up by Running With Scissors as a fringe production for the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival.

I Suddenly Know What You Did Last Summer! runs from March 21 through April 12 at the Shim Sham Club, 615 Toulouse Street, in the French Quarter.
WHAT: Mix one part Waiting for Guffman, one part Noises Off, one part teen slasher film, and a rounded tablespoon of Southern idiom. Add call-brand bourbon to taste. Shake vigorously.

WHEN: Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm from March 21 – April 12, with a special 2:00pm matinee on Sunday, March 30.

WHERE: The Shim Sham Club, 615 Toulouse Street, in the French Quarter

WHO: The cast of I Suddenly Know What You Did Last Summer! includes….

Jack Long as Herschel Winchester, the drama queen and Cecil’s boyfriend

Running With Scissors returns to the Shim Sham Club this summer with another original musical parody up its sleeve. This time, the upstart theatre troupe has its comic sights set on America’s number one export: pop music!

Written by Flynn De Marco, Dorian Rush, and other members of the company, POP TARTS takes as its inspiration the WB’s boy-band TV series Pop Stars, mixing in a dash of Valley of the Dolls and a smidge of The Picture of Dorian Gray to spice things up. The result is a hilarious, one-act send-up of America’s pop music machine that follows a rag-tag foursome (Flynn De Marco, Jim Meredith, Brian Peterson, Jason Toups) from their initial audition for the prefab boy-band, A La Mode, to multi-platinum superstardom. Before long, however, A La Mode’s magic begins to melt, doomed by a charmed portrait of the lead singer (De Marco) and his unquenchable desire to be “the one true pop star!”

POP TARTS also features the comic talents of Dorian Rush as the country-crossover sensation who ultimately foils De Marco’s plot; Jim Jeske as the group’s smarmy but lovable agent; Elizabeth Pearce and Veronica Oliver as a pair of quarrelsome pop princesses; Debbie Davis as the hard-edged, veteran diva; and Patrick Flynn as nearly everyone else. POP TARTS will also feature a series of guest stars in a very special cameo role.

POP TARTS runs Saturdays and Sundays from July 13 through August 4, 2002. Showtime is 8:00pm at the Shim Sham Club, 615 Toulouse Street, in the French Quarter. Tickets are $12-$15, sliding scale.
Running With Scissors is back–and they’re venturing where no sane man would dare to tread: into the depraved depths of a Southern girls’ school!

Written by Flynn De Marco, Jonno, and other members of the company, Hell’s Belles takes place during the Civil War at the French Finishing School, lorded over by one Miss Beatrice French. Her charges? Some of the bawdiest, cattiest, downright orneriest gals the South has ever seen! Into their midst stumbles a seemingly innocent Union soldier, wounded at a nearby battle. He’s taken in and nursed, but what will Beatrice and the girls do with him when he’s well enough to walk again?

Hell’s Belles is based largely on Clint Eastwood’s The Beguiled (filmed just downriver from New Orleans at Ashland-Belle Helene Plantation), with a sprinkling of Misery, Imitation of Life, The Bad Seed, Reform School Girls, and Mildred Pierce thrown in for good measure. Brian Peterson (“Mrs. Finkelstein” from the troupe’s recent Grenadine McGunkle) stars as Beatrice French, the iron-fisted but lonely headmistress. Charles Grant, Roy Haylock, Veronica Oliver, Elizabeth Pearce, Dorian Rush, and Jason Toups are the women she controls. And Flynn De Marco is the ill-starred Union soldier who’s rescued by Beatrice and her pack of Confederate she-devils.

Hell’s Belles premieres for the Krewe of Satyricon on Friday, April 5, 2002, with performances Saturday and Sunday through April 28. Showtime is 8:00 at Cowpokes Theater Space, 2240 St. Claude Avenue, at the corner of St. Claude and Marigny Street, one block below Elysian Fields Avenue. Parking is located behind the building, on Marigny Street. Tickets are $12-$15, sliding scale. For more information, please call 504 606 9903.
